I'm trying to decide between the $500 5070 and the $600 9070XT for gaming at 1440p. With just a $100 difference, is it a no-brainer to go for the 9070XT?

The 9070XT is a much better option. It's comparable to the 5070 Ti in raw performance, so there's no real competition here.
For pure gaming, definitely go with the 9070XT!
If ray tracing isn't a big deal for you and you're fine with FSR, the 9070XT is definitely worth it. Even if you do care about graphics, many people still end up choosing Nvidia for its features, so don’t let that sway you if value is your priority.
For gaming at that price, the 9070XT is the clear winner. The 5070 Ti being more expensive just makes it a hard sell overall.

You get more VRAM with the 9070XT, which is awesome for 1440p gaming. It’s the better pick.
I do care about graphics quality, and it looks like the 5070 can reach the FPS I need (100+), but I’m just worried about missing out on the extra value the 9070XT might provide.
