Is the 9070XT worth the extra cost over the 9070 for 1440p gaming?

I'm thinking about upgrading from my 5700XT and I'm trying to decide between the 9070 ASRock Challenger for $600 or the 9070XT for $700. I'm mainly focused on achieving a stable 100fps in 1440p gaming, and I don't usually play games on ultra settings. Given my setup with a 7800X3D processor and 32GB of RAM, do you think the extra $100 for the XT variant is justified in terms of performance?

I made the jump from a 5700XT to the 9070XT and I've been really happy with the upgrade. I can't compare it to a vanilla 9070 since I didn't have one, but having more power now means I can postpone getting another upgrade later.

You're looking at an increase of about 12% in performance for roughly $100 more, plus the 9070XT may consume around 84 watts more depending on the specific model. Weigh those trade-offs based on what's important to you.

Sounds like I don’t need the 9070XT then. I mainly play esports, so this upgrade is primarily for my RTS games. Thanks!

The 9070XT is about 12% faster than the standard 9070, but it comes with a price increase of 17%. Whether that's worth it depends on your budget and how much you value those extra frames. If you're looking for performance, maybe it’s worth considering, but it’s not a massive leap for the cash.

Doesn’t sound necessary to me then, thank you.

Sure, diminishing returns are normal when moving up the performance ladder. Given the current market and competition, that 12% performance jump for 17% more money isn't too terrible.
