I'm wrapping up my PC build and can't decide whether to go with the 9600X for a budget-friendly option or spend a bit more on the 9700X or save for an X3D chip. I'm hoping to stick with this CPU for a few years without needing an upgrade since I've already invested a lot in my graphics card and monitor.

Yeah, the 9600X is good enough for most cases, so you should be just fine!
The 9600X and 9070XT combo is actually great for 1440p gaming! I'd suggest going with it and considering an X3D upgrade in a few years when AM5 is about to be phased out. That’s what I plan to do anyway.
The 9600X is perfectly adequate. Unless you’re getting into highly CPU-intensive games or need to hit very high refresh rates, you won’t need an X3D chip. Just don’t go for resolutions that require the absolute max FPS.
I just got a 1440p 180Hz monitor and I’m happy with 90-110 FPS. My old 1080p monitor didn’t look this good! It's reassuring to know the 9600X should handle it without a hitch.
Seriously, you can run a 9070XT with a 7600X and still play anything smoothly at 1440p. I’d say you’ll be just fine with the 9600X, especially since you’re coming from an i5-11400, which can stutter in some games.
Haha, that was my first choice too! Then I noticed the 9600X was only 20€ more. Sounds like it's worth it!
Any newer 6+ core CPUs from the 12th gen or AM5 should generally manage 1440p gaming well, especially when you look at FPS instead of just percentages.
That sounds like a solid plan! Just want to make sure I'm spending wisely, thanks!
