I'm considering upgrading my CPU for gaming, and I've found the 7800x3D for around $390 Canadian and the 9800x3D for about $564 Canadian on AliExpress. Is the performance increase of the 9800x3D worth that $174 price difference? I typically play games at 1440p with a 200hz monitor.

I grabbed a 7800x3D last month for $400 and I have no regrets. It's really not worth spending more on the 9800x3D unless you're a hardcore enthusiast.
The 7800X3D is the better choice unless cash isn’t a problem for you. It works perfectly for most games and the price is definitely more appealing.
Honestly, the 9800x3D isn't worth that extra cash. You won't see a significant performance boost for the price. The 7800x3D does a great job for 1440p gaming without breaking the bank.
The 9800X3D is about 10% faster than the 7800X3D. So it really comes down to whether that extra price is justifiable for your gaming needs.
If you can afford the 9800x3D, go for it! You'll get better longevity and support. Plus, check out local stores like Canada Computers for combos; they might have better deals around Black Friday.

I'm already set up with AM5, so that won't work for me, but good advice!
