I'm about to build my first PC and I've got an ASUS DirectCU II GTX 570 that was given to me by a friend of my dad. I'm curious about whether this GPU can still handle modern gaming, considering it's over a decade old. What do you all think?

It’s really not viable for typical gaming these days. It’s more of a collectible than anything else, or maybe a way to build a retro Windows 7 setup. Unless you're playing super light games, you might want to look into something more modern.
You can definitely play some light games like Minecraft, but the drivers are outdated and it’ll consume more power than a current budget option while not performing as well. If you’re only spending around $100, you could find something much better used.
Honestly, it’s probably not great for modern gaming. You might get by with older games or indie titles, but anything recent is likely going to struggle. Just make sure any games you want to play support the GTX 570's drivers.
If you're considering this card, keep in mind it won't handle any AAA titles from the last ten years. Still, if you have it for free, why not give it a shot for the fun of testing out some older games and emulators? You might enjoy it for those.
Yeah, I totally agree. If you're into a lot of classics or indie games, it could work decently, but don’t expect much from newer titles.
