Is the Coolermaster Elite Gold 1000 PSU a Good Choice?

I'm considering using the Coolermaster Elite Gold 1000 power supply (Model MPW-A001-AFAG-BTW) and I'm a bit concerned about its quality. My main worry is about the 12v-2x6 cable that comes with it. I'm running a 5080 GPU and want to know if this PSU is reliable or if it could potentially cause issues like burning the cable.

I'd suggest going with a PSU option that’s been well-tested and is rated A-tier. This one hasn’t gone through tests yet, and Cooler Master hasn't built a reputation for high-quality PSUs. Make sure the 12v cable is securely plugged in, as it can be crucial for proper GPU functionality.

Check out the wireview 2 feature; it should help prevent any damage. Also, I recommend looking at a PSU tier list to gauge its quality properly.

It's not the worst entry-level PSU, but it's a bit pricey for what you get. If you have some flexibility in your budget, consider upgrading to a Corsair RM1000X instead. However, if you’re already using it, just check that the power cable pins are not damaged. The 5080 shouldn’t cause connector issues, but undervolting the GPU might help lessen risks.

Just to clarify, the RMx series is indeed better than the Century II option, though the Century II still holds its ground! We still need more info on the Elite Gold, though.

Honestly, there isn't much info on this new PSU yet. Cooler Master’s previous Elite models were pretty low quality, but without any reviews on the Elite Gold, we can't be sure. If it is poorly made, the PSU will likely fail before the cables even get a chance to overheat.
