I'm considering upgrading from my Samsung Evo 250GB SSD to a Crucial BX500. Is the BX500 a reliable choice? Also, how easy is it to transfer my data from one SSD to the other?

The Crucial BX500 isn't the best option since it's a DRAM-less SATA SSD, which tends to perform poorly compared to other drives. Even lower-end NVMe drives would outperform it. Before you decide, check your motherboard for compatibility and see if you can get a better SSD for a similar price.
As for transferring your data, it should generally be straightforward. You can clone your old SSD onto the new one using software like Macrium Reflect or Clonezilla. Just make sure you back everything up first!
