Why is my PC’s Wi-Fi so slow compared to my phone and laptop?

I recently moved into a new apartment, and since then, my PC's Wi-Fi has been awful. I have a 500 Mbps internet plan, but my computer only manages around 10 Mbps at best. I've tried all the usual fixes—restarting my computer and router, updating and reinstalling drivers, and even getting my ISP to help, but nothing has worked. My laptop and phone get great Wi-Fi signals everywhere in the apartment, including at my PC's location. Now, doing simple tasks like searching on Google takes forever, which is really frustrating. Does anyone have suggestions on how to troubleshoot or fix this issue? My setup includes Windows 11 with a 12th gen Intel Core i5-12400F, running at 2500 MHz with 6 cores and 12 logical processors.

The placement of your PC could be affecting the Wi-Fi signal. I once helped a customer who had their PC stuffed in a cabinet, which blocked the Wi-Fi antenna. Try moving your PC to different spots and see if that helps. You might even consider using an Ethernet cable if you're really close to the router—it can make a big difference!

I had a similar situation once, and it turned out the Wi-Fi adapter was faulty. I replaced it, and that resolved my connectivity issues. Before you invest in a new adapter, try reinstalling the current drivers or look for updated ones—this can often fix glitches without needing a new part.

What if the Wi-Fi is built into my motherboard? I have a B760M DS3H AX and it says it’s integrated.

Wi-Fi can be pretty finicky about distance and positioning. If you can, try moving your computer as close to the router as possible and test the connection. Sometimes even a few feet can make a difference!
