Is the GTX 1630 Worth Considering for a Budget Build?

Hey everyone! I'm helping a friend look for a PC, and he came across a Dell Inspiron 5680 featuring a GTX 1630. I'm aware that the 1630 isn't great, especially compared to a 1050, so I'm wondering if anyone still thinks this card is usable in today's gaming landscape. Is it even worth it for him to sell this card, or should he just invest in a 1660 instead? I know it's outdated tech, but this is what he's working with for now until he can upgrade or build a better setup.

It really depends on what your friend plans to do with it. If he can sell it for around $60, that could help him towards getting a used 1660 Super, like a Zotac or MSI Ventus. It's not going to run the newer games that well, though, so a better card is a good idea.

Honestly, I had no idea the GTX 1630 even existed! But it seems like the only reason to use one is if your CPU lacks an integrated graphics unit, and you literally have no other options available.

Yeah, I think the GTX 1630 is more for budget builds or pre-builts where they want to keep costs down. It's got a 64-bit data bus which definitely drags down its performance today.

I mean, what's it powering? A Windows XP build? Seriously, it could probably handle DVD playback just fine, but if your friend wants to game, he should really think about that upgrade.

The GTX 1630 might manage some older games at 1080p, and it's a bit better than the 1050 but falls short of the 1050 Ti. Just remember, the CPU, RAM, and storage will also heavily influence overall performance, so keep that in mind.
