Is the Kingston A400 1TB SSD a Good Choice for a Secondary Drive?

Hey everyone! I'm considering getting the Kingston A400 1TB SSD to use as a secondary drive in my PC, mainly for games and file storage. Right now, I've got a Kingston SSD SATA III where my Windows is installed, but I'm not sure if it's the same model. I've heard some mixed opinions about Kingston SSDs regarding their reliability, and I'm feeling a bit paranoid about making this purchase. What do you all think? Is the A400 worth it? Thanks!

Honestly, there’s really no reason to stick with SATA drives in this day and age. For just a little more cash, you can grab an NVMe drive, which can be significantly faster—like 500 to 1500% faster in read/write speeds. Sometimes, those higher capacity NVMe models can even cost less per gigabyte than SATA ones! Consider that before deciding on the A400.

Yeah, but not everyone has spare NVMe slots open. Plus, pricing can vary a lot in different regions, so keep that in mind.

True, I wanted to upgrade to an NVMe M.2 SSD too, but I couldn't find the right screws for my motherboard!

I've been using the Kingston A400 512GB since 2018, and it’s been reliable for me. It’s a solid choice, but be sure to check out alternatives like Crucial, Silicon Power, Samsung, and Team Group, too—sometimes you can find better deals with these other brands.

I appreciate your input! I've heard a lot of people criticize Kingston SSDs, especially the A400. Some claim it's one of the worst and most faulty. What do you think?
