Is the MacBook Air M4 Good for Intensive Programming Tasks?

I'm considering switching to macOS and looking into the MacBook Air M4 specifically for programming. I want to run tools like Git, SQL/MongoDB, and IDEs like VS Code, IntelliJ, or PyCharm. Additionally, I'm planning to work on Android Studio and do some low-level programming in C to create my own server or CLI. I often have multiple applications and Chrome tabs open simultaneously, so I really need a smooth user experience. My current Lenovo ThinkPad i7 freezes up whenever it wakes from sleep, and I've also tried Linux, but it drains the battery too quickly. Can anyone who has used the M4 Air extensively for programming let me know if it can handle all these tasks simultaneously?

If you're dealing with heavier tasks, you might want to consider getting a MacBook Pro instead of the Air. I've been researching both to replace my old Air, and while the M4 should manage most programming tasks just fine—even heavy stuff like Docker instances and Rust compilation—Pro may provide that extra performance you need.
