I'm considering getting the RTX 3060 with 12GB for $230. How well do you think it will perform over the next 3-4 years?

I wouldn't recommend it. There are better options out there like the 5050, which actually outperforms the 3060 and is only $250 brand new. The 9060 XT 8GB is another contender worth considering.

That's valid, but remember the 3060 has 12GB of VRAM. While it may be slightly slower and lacks some features like FP8 and FP4 support, that extra memory could be more beneficial if you find it at the right price, like $200. With memory prices rising, running out of VRAM can be a serious issue. Also, look into the 2080Ti as it's comparable to the 3070 but often found at a similar price.
