Is the RTX 3070 Still a Viable Option for High-FPS Gaming?

I'm considering building my first PC and wondering if my planned specs are worth it, particularly in regard to price-to-performance. My budget is around $800 or less, and here's what I'm looking at:

- Montech x5 ATX Mid Tower Case: $59.90
- Cooler Master Hyper 212 Spectrum: $16.99
- AMD Ryzen 5 5600: $136.50
- MSI B550M Pro VDH WIFI: $79.99
- Lexar 1TB NM970 SSD PCIe Gen4: $74.99
- MSI MAG A750BN PCIe5, 750W Bronze Rated PSU: $73.00
- Oloy DDR4 RAM 16GB (2x8): $56.99

From eBay, I'm looking at an EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 8GB for $220, bringing my total to $747.43 after taxes and shipping. Since I'm swapping out from a $580 laptop, I'd only need to pay $129.43 for this upgrade.

My primary concern is whether this setup would deliver high FPS (above 60) in AAA games like Battlefield 6, Arc Raiders, Tekken, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Crusader Kings 3, without stutters or lag at 1080p. I'm aware that the 8GB VRAM might become a limitation in the future, so I'd appreciate any alternatives or suggestions. Thanks!

You might want to check out the used market for components. Building an AM4 system doesn't necessarily make the most financial sense right now. You could potentially save a lot by buying parts that are pre-owned. In fact, consider getting a whole system from someone upgrading to a newer build.

I get your point, but if your budget allows it and you’re already under, buying new seems like a safer option in the long run. Plus, I wouldn’t want to deal with the hassle of used parts, especially for the GPU.
