Is the RTX 3090 Still a Good Choice for Gaming?

I'm looking for a GPU that can handle games like The Last of Us Part II, the newer Horizon titles, and The Witcher 3 on max settings at 1440p. Is the RTX 3090 worth considering for this purpose, or should I look for something else?

A new 5070 Ti definitely offers more bang for your buck than a 3090, no question about it.

The 3090 is about 5-10% less powerful than the new 5070 graphics cards. While it still performs decently, for the same price, you could get a brand new 5070 Ti, which is the smarter choice given the current VRAM situation. You really won't find a 3090 for under $900 these days anyway.

Absolutely! After doing some digging myself, I found that the 5070 Ti is actually around 10% faster than the 3090, making it a better pick right now.

It really comes down to the pricing. Newer cards like the 9070 XT and 5070 Ti outperform the 3090, even if they have less VRAM. With 16 GB being sufficient for 1440p gaming for quite a while, I suggest you look at those alternatives.

I've had my 3090 and can confirm it plays The Witcher 3 on max settings with ray tracing smoothly at 1440p. But honestly, for a better deal without sacrificing too much performance, the 5070 Ti or even a 7900 XTX for specific uses would be wiser choices. Just check the prices before you buy, especially if you're considering a used 3090.

If you can find a used RTX 3090 for a good price, it can still be a solid option. However, if you're looking at new prices, it's probably not worth it anymore.
