I'm considering getting my friend's PC, and all I play are competitive games like Call of Duty, CS2, Valorant, and Rocket League, plus some single-player titles where I like to max out the settings for at least 60fps. Currently, I game at 1440p 240Hz, but I'm thinking about upgrading to a 1440p OLED with at least a 360Hz refresh rate, possibly even 480Hz. I'd love to hear opinions on whether the RTX 5070 is realistically future-proof for my gaming style over the next 2 to 3 years. My PC specs are:
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- **GPU:** MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Gaming Trio OC 12GB
- **Motherboard:** ASRock Phantom Gaming B650I
- **Power Supply:** Cooler Master V850 850W Gold
- **Memory:** 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5-6000
- **Storage:** 2TB Crucial P310 NVMe SSD
- **Cooling:** Cooler Master MasterLiquid 280L AIO
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

12GB of VRAM isn't exactly future-proof. If you're looking ahead to 4K gaming, something like the 4080 is a beast, but I get that you're focused on 1440p right now.
Why push for 4K when he's specifically using a 1440p monitor? That seems unnecessary!
For competitive shooters, the RTX 5070 is plenty capable, especially with settings turned down. For single-player AAA games, you might hit some limits at max settings due to the 12GB of VRAM, but if you're comfortable lowering settings, it should easily hit 60fps. Just ensure you're considering what you're paying for the whole build!
I'm getting the whole setup for £1250, and everything is basically new. I plan to use DLSS when needed for those single-player games!
Unless you're going all-in on ray tracing, 12GB will be sufficient for current AAA titles at 1440p on ultra settings.
The Gaming Trio OC is pricey, so you might find better options like the 9070XT or even a 5070Ti model for a similar cost.
Yeah, with the 5070, you should be able to hit around 200fps in competitive games even at ultra settings. But, I doubt it'll consistently hit 480fps unless you're on lowered settings. It’s still a solid card, but I wouldn’t count on it being future-proof for 3 years without leveraging DLSS. Some newer titles struggle to maintain 30fps at max settings on 1440p with the 5070.

I appreciate the feedback! I'm not planning on moving to 4K anytime soon, so I think I'll be fine. If I do, I'll upgrade the card then.
