I'm thinking about building my first gaming PC and I've been holding off for a while. I'm looking at a system with a B760 motherboard, an Intel i5-12400F CPU, an RX6600 8GB GPU, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, a 650W PSU, and a 512GB SSD. My total budget is around $500, but the parts are adding up to about $530, which is pushing it for me. I do have a decent 4K 27-inch monitor, but I'm planning to prioritize graphics quality over frame rate since I mainly play RPGs and racing games. I'm okay with aiming for a minimum of 60fps, given my monitor's 60hz refresh rate. As a long-time Mac user, I'm not overly tech-savvy, so I want to know if this build is suitable for achieving 60fps at 1440p. Any advice?

With your setup, you may need a better GPU if you want decent performance at 1440p. The RX6600 isn't really meant for that resolution and might leave you disappointed in modern titles. If your budget allows, consider looking into options like the RX6700XT or even the RTX 3060, which would be a bit pricier but might be worth it for better performance.
The RX6600 can handle some older titles at 1440p, but don't expect it to perform well with the latest AAA games. While it might not fully meet your expectations, it's a decent choice within your budget range. You might want to look at other options like the RX6700XT for better performance down the line.
I feel you. I was thinking about the RX6600 too, but for future-proofing, something like the RX3060 might give you some extra headroom.
Honestly, I wouldn't recommend the RX6600 for 1440p gaming right now. It's good for 1080p, but it's gonna struggle at 1440p, especially on newer titles. You’d probably be looking at around 20-30 fps if you tried playing at 4K. It's a solid card for budget builds but maybe not what you want for 1440p.
Agreed! I have an RX6400 and managed to play some older games, but for anything more demanding, the RX6600 won't cut it at 1440p.
Yeah, I hear you on wanting fidelity. Just make sure to keep an eye on FPS because the RX6600 won't give you the numbers you’re hunting for.
