Is the Ryzen 5 7500F a Good Choice for POE1 and Heavily Modded Minecraft?

I'm looking to upgrade my CPU for gaming at 1080p, specifically for Path of Exile 1 and heavily modded Minecraft. I care more about smooth gameplay rather than graphics quality. There's not a ton of benchmark data for these games, so I'm trying to decide if the Ryzen 5 7500F is a solid choice. I'm also considering future-proofing since I want to use this CPU until a better value-performance option comes along, but I'm worried about resale value down the line. Any thoughts?

The Ryzen 5 7500F is a pretty decent choice if you're focused on future upgrades. Just make sure to pair it with a solid motherboard; avoid lower-end options like the A620 or B840 boards. This CPU will handle most games well, as long as you’re not using it with an overly powerful GPU at 1080p. If you're planning on shelling out for a high-end graphics card, consider something like the 7800X3D instead. Personally, I used an R5 7600, which performed well even with a 7800XT at 1440p, and I only switched it up for smoother performance in high-refresh rate gaming.

Why not go for A620 or B840? Many of them are solid and shouldn’t throttle a 9800X3D.

I didn't scrimp on the motherboard either. I feel the same about the CPU; just wanted some reassurance. Thanks!

If it fits your budget, then it could work for you. But since you're at 1080p, just make sure you're not overspending for your gaming needs. The Ryzen 5 should be sufficient for those titles, but if you can afford more, consider the alternatives.

I can spend more, but is it worth it for the games I play at 1080p?
