I'm considering buying a Ryzen 7 5700, which is currently priced at €115. The Ryzen 7 5700X, however, is $144 more. Is it really worth spending the extra money for the X version?

What will you mainly use it for?

I'm just looking for a faster PC for regular tasks and some gaming. I need more headroom since I'm still using the first Zen 6 core.

Honestly, the 5700 doesn’t offer much more performance compared to the X version. The only major upgrade in the AM4 range is the X3D chips, but they come with a hefty price tag.

But the 5700 is built on a different architecture and has halved L3 cache. The gaming performance difference can go up to 25%!

Exactly! The cache and architecture make a huge difference in gaming.

If you're into gaming, I’d say yes, especially if you have a strong GPU. The 5700X really helps with performance in that area.

Before you make your decision, check out this video. Some folks are saying the 5700 feels a bit like a scam compared to the 5700X. It gives you an overview of the performance differences too!

The 5700X is definitely better for performance and gaming. Plus, it supports PCIe Gen 4, while the non-X version only supports Gen 3.

I have the 5700X and I run Ableton while gaming at 1440p and 180 fps, and it handles everything like a champ! It’s awesome for multitasking.

The 5700 has half the cache and uses a different architecture since it’s basically a 5700G without integrated graphics. If you're looking to save cash, maybe consider the 5600 or 5600X instead.

I did think about the Ryzen 5 5600XT, but won't six cores become a bottleneck with games coming up in 2026-2028?
