I'm thinking about getting a Samsung 990 Pro SSD, but I'm a bit hesitant because I heard about some issues it had a couple of years ago. Are those problems still a concern, or have they been fixed?

A lot of people have mixed feelings about the 990 Pro. While it does offer great gaming performance, some users felt that Samsung has strayed from the high quality of their older PRO models. Previously, Samsung SSDs had a solid track record, but the 980 and 990 series are more geared towards gamers, which some professionals found disappointing. There was a defect that caused self-destruction in early models, but Samsung did release a firmware update to address that. If you decide to go for it, make sure to install the latest firmware for peace of mind.
So, if I'm planning to buy it in 2025, will I still need to worry about that firmware issue or is it completely resolved now?
