I'm wondering if the stock cooler that comes with the Ryzen 5 5500 will adequate for cooling during 1080p gaming sessions with my RX 6600. Has anyone had experience with this setup?

Yes, the stock cooler can handle it, but if you spend a little on an aftermarket cooler, you'll see much better performance.

For gaming, thermal throttling isn't really an issue with most CPUs, so you should be fine running stock.

My setup was exactly like yours last year. It cools fine but can reach mid to high 80°C when heavily loaded. If you're okay with investing a bit more, a $20 aftermarket cooler could make a big difference.

Yeah, it should work, but there's a small chance of thermal throttling. I had a friend with a Ryzen 5 5600 who temps hit 90°C with the stock cooler, but switching to a better cooler dropped that to 60°C and boosted performance significantly!

You'll be pretty safe with the stock cooler for most gaming sessions. Just keep in mind that they can get noisy when under load.
