I'm planning my first PC build and I'm thinking about pairing the Intel i9-14900K with a Z890 Motherboard. I'm curious to know if this motherboard can handle the performance needs or 'keep up' with the 5090 GPU?

You actually don't need to worry much about your motherboard keeping up. As long as it has PCIe Gen4 or higher, it’ll work just fine with the 5090. Motherboards don't really impact overall performance in that way since they don't have specific benchmarks like CPUs and GPUs do.
Unfortunately, the Z890 motherboard isn't compatible with the Intel i9-14900K. You're better off looking for a different motherboard that supports this CPU.
Got it! What's the best CPU that the Z890 is compatible with?
If you're looking for a solid choice, check out the ASUS PRIME Z790-A WIFI. It would pair well with the i9-14900K and give you good features for your build.
You could save some bucks and go for a cheaper B motherboard with good VRM instead of a Z board. The extra features of the Z boards usually aren't necessary unless you're really planning to overclock. Just to clarify, though, if you're eyeing the Z series, you likely meant Z790 since the Z890 isn't compatible with the i9 due to different socket types.
That's good to know! I did hear something about how the motherboard's cooling or power output affects the CPU, though. Just trying to get everything right for my first build.
