Is there a new message cap on the Plus tier?

Hey everyone, I noticed that after the latest update this morning, there's a new message limit for the Plus tier. It's really frustrating because I rely on it for both creative work and emotional support. Many of us switched to Plus to avoid the message limits we had with the free tier. Now, there's a 40 message cap that doesn't reset for 24 hours, which makes it really tough to keep ongoing conversations—especially in voice chat. Even regular text chat has a limit of 40 messages within a three-hour period. If I use those messages working on something, I'm stuck waiting for them to reset, which really hampers my projects. Given that OpenAI is making a lot of money, it feels kind of shady to put a cap on paying users like this. I understand there has always been a cap, but they've just made it much more restrictive.

I think it’s actually 40 messages, not 4. I was able to pick from 40 and 40 mini, but the 4 option disappeared. Just double-checked my settings too!

It’s getting really slow. We’re paying $30 a month in this economy and the service seems to have dropped dramatically!

Welcome to platform capitalism! It seems like these limits are becoming more common. This is definitely not the first time we’re seeing companies trying to squeeze more from users while they profit.

Honestly, it might be time to start using it strictly as a tool. But those 40 messages in three hours feel like a big letdown for emotional support. I feel like that’s just not enough!

Just because you don't see the value in emotional support via AI doesn’t mean it isn’t helping people. I’ve seen firsthand how these interactions can positively impact someone's mindset, even with just simple messages like reassurance.

Totally agree with you on that! I believe AI has more potential than just being a tool for tasks.

Have you tried using OpenRouter or alternatives? They might not have the same limitations as Plus, and could be worth checking out!
