X1 Carbon vs. Latitude 7000: Which One Should We Choose?

We've been using Dell laptops for a while, particularly the 7000 series Latitudes, but I'm starting to rethink our choice. The new models are priced similarly to the X1 Carbon, which I've always considered a top-tier option. A colleague traveling in the US is currently facing issues with his Latitude, specifically that his laptop freezes every time he tries to connect to Wi-Fi, and we've had ongoing complaints about Wi-Fi range and Palo Alto VPN issues with previous Dell models. Given these troubles, I'm wondering if it's time to switch to the X1 Carbon and would love to hear feedback from others who use both devices regularly. How do they compare in terms of performance and support?

Be cautious, the prices on X1s are expected to go up in about six months—I'm talking about a potential 15-20% increase. That said, my 7440 has been working flawlessly, so it might just be an isolated issue with your colleague's laptop.

I've already noticed a price hike on the X1s recently. It makes it tempting to switch our whole fleet to Dell if it saves us money!

I've tried a range of brands, including HP Elite, Dell Latitude, and various Lenovos, but my team has consistently preferred HP Elite laptops across multiple organizations. We operate with large fleets, over 3,000 units, so durability is key for us. My experiences with Dell haven’t been as positive—too many issues that impact productivity.

Interesting viewpoint! I've always found HP a bit tricky to source. I'm testing a few X1s now and might eventually look into HP.

I actually prefer the Latitudes over the X1 Carbon. Many rave about the X1 being the best, but I’m just not a fan. I have one at home, and honestly, I wish I had gone for a Latitude instead.

My workplace is all about Lenovo X1 Carbons, but we also use some older Dell Latitudes. Performance and support have been solid on both brands for me. Just a heads up about pricing, though—there’s been a noticeable increase in my current order.”},{

We've mostly used Dell's earlier models, but we've stepped away due to severe quality control issues. About 80% of our new units had problems like non-functional webcams and persistent driver errors. Even with ProSupport, we've faced constant blue screens and have had to replace motherboards and fans early on. We used to deploy mostly Dells, but that won't happen anymore, given our experience.

All my IT staff use X1 Carbons, and I'm using an X1 Nano—they're all really happy with their performance. I can't comment on Latitudes since we focus on Dell for rugged laptops, but the X1s are definitely holding up well for us.
