I'm trying to root my Samsung Galaxy A-51 to use Disk Drill for data recovery. I've seen some YouTube tutorials that say rooting typically results in a data loss, but I came across information suggesting that only unlocking the bootloader causes a factory reset, which wipes everything. Since I'm new to rooting, I'm hoping there's a way to do this without permanently deleting all my data because it seems counterintuitive to remove data to recover it. Any tips or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

It’s really important to back up your data before you start the rooting process since unlocking the bootloader will trigger a factory reset, which means everything will be erased. You can back up your files to your computer or cloud storage first. Once you’ve rooted the device, just restore your data. That way, you won’t lose anything valuable in the process.
Unfortunately, unlocking the bootloader wipes your phone. It's a standard procedure, so you'll have to create a backup. After you unlock and root your phone, you can copy your files back onto it. If you're not sure how to back up, plenty of apps can help, or you can use your computer to save everything.
