I'm switching over to Linux and really want to know if there's any way to run MS Paint on it, especially since I mainly use it for my pixel art. I've tried searching online, but I mostly keep running into suggestions for alternatives. As an artist, I truly love the simplicity of MS Paint and haven't found a replacement that captures its feel in a meaningful way. I tried Tux Paint, but it's not really serious enough for me. Is there a method to get MS Paint working on Linux Mint using Wine or something similar?

Have you thought about using Wine for MS Paint? There are plenty of guides out there on how to run it on Linux. Here’s a link to one that might help you out: https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxquestions/comments/tk1t0k/trying_to_run_ms_paint_using_wine/
I remember extracting paint.exe from an old Windows installation. It involves some steps, but it can be done. Then you can run it with Wine or Lutris. If all else fails, you might want to consider just setting up a VM with Windows 10 so you can copy the .exe over!
It might be a good idea to try running MS Paint in a virtual machine. While it’s possible to get the Windows version to work on Linux, downloading the actual Paint installer can be tricky. You could also simply search for the .exe file online and try running it with Wine. A great site to check is oldversion.com.
If you’re looking for alternatives, I recently started using Pinta for simple tasks and it’s pretty good! But can you let us know which alternatives you’ve already tried? This way, we won’t suggest the same ones again.
If nostalgia is what you’re after, KolourPaint is a decent native alternative to MS Paint. It reminds me a lot of the classic version! But if you want something more robust, possibly give Krita a shot—it's got some neat pixel art features if you ever decide to take your work a notch higher.
