Hey everyone! I'm diving into the world of PC gaming and building for the first time. I've primarily used consoles and laptops until now. I asked an AI to suggest a PC build for under $3000 that can handle most games at high resolutions, and also be good for video editing since I'm working part time as an executive assistant. The build includes:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
- Motherboard: MSI MAG X870 Tomahawk WiFi
- Graphics Card: RTX 5080 Founders Edition
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance 6000 MHz DDR5 32 GB (2x16)
- Storage: Samsung 990 pro 2 TB NVMe M.2
- CPU Cooler: Corsair iCUE H100i
- Power Supply: Corsair RM850x 80+ gold
- Case: Lian Li Mesh Case mid tower
I'm really new to this, so I'd love your feedback on whether this build is solid or if you have any suggestions for improvements. Thanks in advance!

Since you mentioned doing video editing, do you have a specific software in mind? Have you edited videos before? Understanding your software's demands can help in fine-tuning your build to best suit your workflow.
Your build looks impressive, but you might save some cash by opting for a B850 motherboard and a more affordable cooler like the Thermalright Phantom Spirit. If you're mostly into video editing, you might consider a different CPU that's optimized for that kind of work, like the 9900X (3D). Just something to keep in mind!
Honestly, your setup gives me serious envy! But if you want to cut down on costs, think about going for simpler components that still deliver solid performance. And whatever you do, don't skimp on the motherboard quality; cheaper boards can lead to voltage issues with the higher-end CPUs, which is a risk you don't want to take.
So true about the board, especially if you plan to overclock or push it hard later!
You should definitely check out pcpartpicker.com. It's a fantastic resource that helps you ensure all your parts are compatible. You can play around with different builds too! Here’s a link to a sample setup I made that's slightly cheaper than what you picked: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3hGMRV. It’s worth exploring!
Thanks so much for the responses, everyone! I really didn't expect to get this much feedback so quickly. You all are awesome!

Right! m-ATX motherboards are a good option if you're looking for something compact and more portable, plus they're beginner-friendly since they have fewer components.
