I recently purchased a used 1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD from an online marketplace to use as a video archive for my favorite TV shows. It's my first experience with a 3.5" HDD. After properly connecting all the cables and formatting the drive through Disk Management, I renamed it to Local Disk(D:). However, I've noticed that the drive is making a very loud grinding noise. I'm concerned about whether this noise is normal or if it indicates a problem. I want to ensure everything is okay before I start storing files on the drive.

Generally, hard drives do make some noise, but a loud grinding sound is not a good sign. It could indicate that the drive might be failing. I recommend backing up any important data as soon as possible. If you're unsure, try checking out the manufacturer's specifications or consult a technician for a closer look.

Yeah, grinding noises are definitely a cause for concern. You might want to run some diagnostics on it just to be safe.
