Hey everyone, I'm working on a tight budget and I've put together a parts list for a new PC. I want to be able to play some modern AAA games at 1080p and also explore basic AI and machine learning tasks, like training small models. Here's what I have in mind:
- CPU: INTEL CORE i3-12100F (12M Cache, up to 4.30GHz)
- Motherboard: MSI Pro H610M-E DDR4 (LGA1700, max 64GB DDR4 3200MHz)
- GPU: Asus Dual GeForce RTX 3050 OC Edition 6GB GDDR6
- PSU: Corsair CX550 550W 80 PLUS Bronze
- Case: Ant Esports Si25 (ATX mid-tower)
- RAM: ADATA XPG SPECTRIX D50 RGB 16GB (8GB x2) DDR4 3200MHz
- SSD: EVM 512GB M.2 NVMe
- Monitor: Acer EK220Q 22" FHD
- Peripherals: Ant Esports KM500W keyboard + mouse combo
I'm trying to keep costs down as I'm nearly at my budget limit.
Here are some things I'd like the community's opinion on:
1. Can this build handle 1080p AAA gaming at medium/high settings?
2. Is the RTX 3050 with 6GB VRAM sufficient for basic ML experiments?
3. Are there compatibility issues or parts that don't offer good value?
4. If I get extra cash later, which upgrade should I focus on first: RAM, GPU, storage, or CPU?
I appreciate any feedback, especially since my budget is tight. Thank you!

It's hard to say for sure without seeing the prices, but generally, the CPU you chose is decent. However, the RTX 3050 is not that great; it’s significantly outperformed by the 8GB version and even older cards like the used 2060 Super or 2070. You might want to consider upgrading your GPU later if you can.
Check out the prices on that PC Parts Picker link you shared. The build looks plausible, but if you can swing it, look for discounts on better GPUs. The 3050 should handle light gaming okay, but your AI tasks might struggle a bit depending on your model complexity.
I totally agree! I think a little extra investment in a better GPU would be worth it.
It's good to know how much you're spending. If it's between 44-46k rupees, that might be reasonable for the components you've picked, but definitely check for deals on used parts. It can really help with getting something like a better graphics card.
Yeah, looking into used parts could save you a ton!
Oh, that’s helpful! Thanks for sharing!
