Hey everyone! I'm planning to build a new PC since my last one was assembled back when Skyrim came out. I'm aiming for a future-proof setup without breaking the bank. Here's what I have in mind for parts, and I'd love your thoughts on whether these choices are compatible and solid. Also, I'm considering upgrading from a 2TB SSD—how much storage do you typically have? Here's the build:
- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7 GHz 8-Core Processor
- **CPU Cooler**: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE ARGB 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler
- **Motherboard**: Gigabyte B650M GAMING X AX Micro ATX AM5 Motherboard
- **Storage**: Western Digital WD_Black SN850X 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME SSD
- **Video Card**: Sapphire NITRO+ Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24 GB Video Card
- **Case**: Fractal Design North XL ATX Full Tower Case
- **Power Supply**: Corsair RM850e (2023) 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

I really like this build! I recently did something similar. I’d recommend swapping out the Gigabyte motherboard for the B650 MSI; their support is way better. Also, consider getting a 1000W power supply instead of the 850W—you'll have more headroom for future upgrades. And definitely, go for a 4TB M.2 drive if you can swing it; 2TB just isn't enough these days. For RAM, 48 or 64GB is ideal for future-proofing. I picked up the G Skill Trident 6000MHz 64GB kit, and it’s been awesome for overclocking! Enjoy your build!
Just a heads up—can you even find a 7900XTX these days? As for storage, I've got a 9100 Pro 2TB for my OS and important games, plus a couple of 4TB 990 EVO Plus drives—one for general stuff like photos and documents, and the other just for my games library. Definitely recommend going bigger than 2TB if you can.
I’m currently in Japan, and I’ve seen a few available on Amazon. I like your storage setup; I might go with something similar!
That's awesome! I didn’t realize MSI had such a solid rep; I’ll dig deeper into motherboards. Thinking about getting a 4TB SSD too, maybe a smaller one for OS just to tinker with Linux without issues. Appreciate the advice!
