Hey everyone! I found a second-hand PC listed for $1300 AUD, and I'm curious if it's still good for gaming or if it's considered outdated. Here's the spec list:
- Ryzen 9 5950X
- 128GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM
- RTX 4070 12GB
- MSI B550 ATX motherboard
- Corsair 1000W PSU
- 240mm AIO cooler with Noctua fans
- 2TB M.2 SSD
- Phanteks ATX case

Should I go for this one or buy a new pre-built system for around $1600 AUD instead? Also, would I be able to transfer all these components to a newer case? Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Let's compare this to entry-level pre-builts in Australia. Most start around $1500 for a Ryzen 5 build with a weaker graphics card. Your specs look much stronger, especially for gaming with the 5950X. Just keep in mind that the 5950X is more efficient in productivity tasks, while the graphics card choice will hold up for gaming.

If I'm being honest, I'd probably lean towards a new pre-built system. The second-hand rig is on the AM4 platform, which is older tech. If you want something more future-proof, stick with a pre-built AM5 system. They also usually come with warranties, and you'll be on your own with used hardware. I'd want at least $300 off to consider it worthwhile, personally.

That's a good point! I'm worried about the aging components. If I go for the pre-built, what would you suggest for specs?

Honestly, for that price in AUD, it's a pretty good deal. You really can't build something of that caliber for $1300, especially in Australia. Plus, you can definitely swap everything into a different case if you want! Just watch out for the bigger components fitting in the new case.

Exactly! Building from scratch would set you back way more, probably around 3-5k AUD. So this second-hand deal seems solid.
