I just bought a new gaming PC which has an ASUS TUF 5090 OC GPU and an Intel U9 285K CPU, all running on an ASUS MB PRIME Z890-P motherboard with liquid cooling. However, I'm starting to worry about my 1000W PSU (Gigabyte GP-UD1000GM). When both the CPU and GPU are under heavy load, like during intense gaming sessions, the power draw could spike beyond what my PSU can handle — 650W for the GPU and 425W for the CPU. Should I consider undervolting or adjusting the power target while I look for a better PSU, or am I just overreacting? Will things be fine unless I'm using really demanding applications?

If your PSU is the REV 2.0 (ATX 3.0), you should be okay under normal gaming conditions. Just keep an eye on it. Think about your usage; unless you’re running intense tasks that really stress both the CPU and GPU at the same time, you probably don't need to worry too much. But a little undervolting might help reduce power usage, just make sure to stress test afterward to ensure stability.
Undervolting is definitely something you can try. It usually won’t impact your gaming experience, and you might even see a drop in your power consumption. Adjusting the CPU power limits to Intel's default settings should also help keep things in check without affecting performance. Just stress test afterwards to ensure everything runs smoothly!
Got it! I left the CPU preferences on Intel default. Should I also turn off the power limit 4 option to avoid hitting that 425W draw?
Thanks for the tip! I'll check which version I have.
