I'm curious if the difference in latency between 6200 CL36 and 6000 CL30 RAM is something I should be concerned about. I was considering an upgrade last month since the rest of my build is pretty future-proof. However, with the current state of RAM prices, I'm starting to wonder if it's even worth making the switch. Just for reference, I got the 6200 CL36 kit for free from a relative. My setup includes an Asus Z790 GAMING WIFI7 motherboard, an Intel Core i9-14900KF, and an RTX 5080, all powered by an 850W RME PSU.

Unless you have an X3D CPU, that slight difference in speed won't matter too much. The reason people mentioned 6000 CL30 is that it matches certain performance metrics, like with the 9800X3D. Stick with what you have unless you're getting a major performance upgrade.
So, if you're on a 14900K like me, just keep the free RAM? Sounds good!
Same boat here in Australia. I built my PC recently and snagged some CL36 Corsair Vengeance for $300 AUD, which is pricey compared to earlier prices. RAM is just crazy right now. I’ve heard some say that having an X3D CPU helps offset the slower timings, though.
Honestly, it's fine as is. Unless you're using an X3D CPU, the speed difference isn’t going to be significant enough to worry about.
Upgrading from a free kit of 6200 CL36 to 6000 CL30 is really not worth it. Even if you sell the 6200 kit for the same price as a CL30 kit, it’s probably more trouble than it’s worth for such a minimal gain. If you were switching from something even slower, it’d be a different story.

Got it! I thought I might be missing something, but I appreciate the clarification.
