I've built my PC about six months ago and it was running perfectly until a few days ago. Suddenly, it just refused to turn on properly. I powered it on and the fans (case, CPU, PSU, and the GPU) all spin up, and the motherboard lights are on. However, my monitor stays black and shows a 'DisplayPort no signal' message.
My setup includes:
- ASRock X870E Taichi motherboard
- AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU
- FSP Hydro Ti Pro 1000W PSU
- ASUS TUF 5070 GTX (16GB)
- GSkill RAM (2 x 32GB DDR PC5 48000)
- MSI MPG 271QRX monitor
I've tried switching the monitor, using an HDMI cable, replacing the graphics card, using different power connectors from the PSU, disconnecting all peripherals, and resetting the motherboard CMOS. Unfortunately, none of these have solved the issue. I also noticed that typically I don't see any diagnostic or post messages when powering on; my screen only activates when I reach the Windows login. This isn't the first time this has happened, but restarting the system usually fixes it—this time, though, nothing seems to work. I'm really stumped about what could be wrong or how to test further.

This isn't an easy fix. You've already covered the basic troubleshooting steps. At this point, it could be your CPU or motherboard that's failing. If possible, check if your motherboard supports USB BIOS Flashback—you might be able to reflash the BIOS without booting the system. If you can’t reflash or swap parts, a repair shop might be your best bet.
To recap, here's what you need to check:
1. Ensure all power connections are secure, especially the CPU and GPU.
2. If you can, get a cheap, compatible CPU to test if it boots. If it does, your original CPU could be faulty; if not, then it’s likely the motherboard.
Great suggestions! Hope you get it sorted without too much trouble!
You might want to try using any integrated video ports on your motherboard, if available. Plug your monitor into those ports and see if you get any output. It could point toward a bigger issue with the graphics card.
First, you might want to take a close look at your CPU. ASRock boards have been known to have issues with the X3D series processors overheating or failing. Make sure you're not looking at a fried CPU, which can cause these symptoms. I’d suggest carefully removing the CPU to check for any signs of damage.
Just to add, there are reports that ASRock boards have some serious issues with the 9800X3D CPUs dying unexpectedly. You might want to look into those threads for more context. Always good to know what other users have experienced!
Have you thought about using a USB display adapter? If that works, you could get into the BIOS or Windows to check logs for any clues. It might help avoid the CPU issue that others have mentioned, but definitely don't rule that out either.

Definitely keep an eye on the heat issues. Overheating can really mess up CPUs, especially if they were working hard without proper cooling.
