I recently bought a 7900 XTX because I thought the RTX 5000 series cards would be hard to find in my region. However, I stumbled upon a Palit RTX 5080 GamingPro at MSRP and I'm curious if it would be worth selling my 7900 XTX to get this new card. I'm mainly looking for better DLSS performance and improved VR support. I should note that I don't currently have the CPU to fully utilize either card, but I'm planning a CPU upgrade next year, so this GPU investment would be for futureproofing purposes.

Not really worth it! The RTX 5080 is just a slight upgrade over what you have, and you’d be giving up some VRAM, which is significant.
I own a RTX 5080, but if I had your XTX, I’d hang onto it. It’s a solid card for 4K gaming and I think its value might actually increase later this year. If you can swing it, consider getting the 5080 but keep your XTX for now.
Why trade the solid 7900 XTX for an NVIDIA card? If you're not into heavy ray tracing, sticking with the AMD card makes more sense. You might find that it's similar performance in most games. Just my two cents!
Upgrading is not just about the new card; you've also got to think about the depreciation on your current 7900 XTX. If you calculate your overall costs versus the actual frames per second increase, you can determine how much you're spending per frame. Whether it's worth it or not really depends on your priorities.
I'm sticking with my 7900 XTX for now. It runs all the games I play at 4K without a hitch. Plus, AMD cards often excel in raw performance rather than relying on AI features.
