I'm currently using a 12400F paired with a 5070Ti and I'm thinking about upgrading my CPU to the 14600K since it's compatible with the LGA1700 socket. Most of my gaming is done at 1440p, so I'm wondering if this upgrade is a good idea or if there are better options available.

Are you sure you really need to upgrade? If you’re gaming at 1440p, your current setup should handle most titles pretty well as it is.
I did the same upgrade six months ago. I got a great deal and honestly, while everything feels a bit snappier, the difference in performance wasn’t huge. Maybe a few extra FPS and slightly less stutter in games, but not a game-changer for me.
Honestly, I wouldn't bother right now. Your 12400F can last a few more years without a significant drop in performance for gaming. Plus, I’ve heard the 14th-gen Intel CPUs have had their share of issues.
If you can swing the AM5 platform, I'd recommend going for that. Otherwise, the 14600K is a decent upgrade but maybe not the best option for pure gaming.
I think it would be a worthy upgrade! If you’re focused on gaming, though, I’d suggest checking out the 7800X3D. I switched from the 14600K to the 7800X3D, and noticed a real improvement in gaming. Just know that the 14600K is still a solid chip, so if you can get it at a good price, it could be worth it.
