I'm looking to boost my gaming performance and considering an upgrade from my current 3070 Ti to a 9070 XT. Right now, I'm running an AM4 setup with a Ryzen 5700G and DDR4 memory, using a PCIe Gen 4 16x slot. Should I focus on upgrading my CPU and motherboard first, or would it make sense to upgrade to the GPU now? Additionally, I'm currently gaming at 1080p144hz but plan to move to 1440p120hz soon.

I made the switch from a 3070 to a 9070 XT on my AM4 build (R9 5900x and 64GB of RAM) mainly for 4K gaming and it's been fantastic. I'm seeing at least double the FPS in most games! That's with a bigger PSU too. At 1080p, your CPU will definitely limit the 9070 XT's performance, but it works decently at 1440p. However, for a better experience at 4K, I'd recommend a stronger CPU.
Totally worth it! You'll definitely see a major performance boost, no question about it!
I upgraded from a Ryzen 5700x with a 3080 to a 9070 XT a few months ago and it's been great overall. I noticed a 40-50% boost in FPS across many titles, especially with frame generation. I can hit 150-200 fps in Cyberpunk at 1440p with ultra settings. My old 3080 struggled at similar settings, so it's a solid upgrade for performance.
It's hard to say without knowing your current resolution and FPS rates. What are you currently gaming at?
Apologies for not including those! I'm at 1080p144hz and planning to upgrade to 1440p120hz.
I’d say go for it! Even if you're on a high-end GPU like a 3090 Ti, the upgrade will impress you. The performance difference is significant!
Haha, exactly! Every little upgrade counts when you're looking for that extra edge.
AMD GPUs typically perform better under CPU limitations due to lower overhead, so you should be fine for most games. It's a good time to make the move to the 9070 XT!

I have a similar setup, also upgraded for a 4K monitor with a 5950x. The 9070 XT runs every game beautifully, very happy with the jump!
