I'm looking to upgrade my old PC, which currently has an i7 2600k processor. I was considering replacing it with an i7 12700k. I know that I'll need a new motherboard and RAM for this upgrade, but are there any other components I should be aware of that might need replacing?

Before you upgrade, it would help to know your complete specs. But if you stick with Intel, remember to check if your power supply can handle the new components. Your GPU might also need an upgrade, especially if you're still using something like a 1050ti. It's not terrible, but newer games might struggle with it.
You'll definitely need to replace your motherboard and RAM to accommodate the new CPU. It's also a good idea to consider upgrading your power supply, especially if it's an older model. Plus, if your GPU is pretty outdated, like the one that typically pairs with the 2600k, you might want to upgrade that as well. I personally think going with a Ryzen 7600 or 7700 could be a better choice for future-proofing and energy efficiency.
If you're aiming for an i7 12700k, definitely consider the total cost of the upgrade. The motherboard and RAM are must-haves, and like others said, upgrading the power supply could help too. If your GPU is still kicking, you might be fine for now, but keep future upgrades in mind.
