Hey everyone! I've got a GTX 1070 Ti paired with an i5 8600k on an Asus Z370, and I usually game at 1080p. Most modern games run at around 50-60fps on my setup. I recently received a $200 Microcenter gift card and was thinking about changing my case. However, I'd like to focus on boosting performance first. I'm considering putting in an additional $50 to buy an Arc B580 Limited Edition for $240. Do you think this upgrade is worthwhile? Here's my full build for reference:
- i5-8600k
- Cryorig H7 CPU Cooler
- Asus Z370-A Motherboard
- 16GB (2x8gb) 3200 CL16 DDR4 RAM
- EVGA GTX 1070 Ti
- 1TB Crucial NVMe SSD and three 250GB SATA SSDs
- EVGA 550W Supernova Power Supply

According to Techpowerup's GPU rankings, the B580 is around 50% faster than the 1070 Ti and comes with an extra 4GB of VRAM, which is a solid boost. Plus, it provides access to Intel's XeSS XMX, offering enhancements over regular XeSS used by NVIDIA and AMD. Just a heads-up though, your 8600k could bottleneck the performance of the B580.
Honestly, unless you have thermal issues or need for more space, upgrading your case primarily for looks doesn’t make much sense performance-wise. The B580 is definitely better than the 1070 Ti, but don’t forget that the 1070 Ti was a solid card for a long time. Providing your build details helps us give the best advice for upgrades!
Right? I also just wanted a new case for aesthetics, but it makes more sense to focus on the upgrades first.
I wouldn’t go for the B580. If you can, maybe save a bit more and look at the 4060 or 5060 instead. Selling your current GPU could help with the cost.
Make sure your motherboard supports Resizable BAR. If it doesn’t, I’d advise against getting the B580, as you’ll likely see terrible performance without that feature.

Yeah, that’s a good point. Upgrading is definitely worth considering, but keep an eye on how your CPU handles the upgrade.
