Is upgrading from a GTX 750 Ti to a GTX 1080 worth it?

I'm pretty clueless about computer hardware, but I know my setup is really outdated and desperately needs an upgrade or a complete replacement. Since a full replacement isn't in my budget right now, I'm considering getting a GTX 1080 to boost my system, mainly to improve performance in Monster Hunter World. Will upgrading to a 1080 from my 750 Ti make a big difference?

That’s a significant upgrade, but I’d suggest looking at your whole system too. A newer mid-tier card might offer better performance for the money since you'll get more efficient features and ongoing driver updates.

For older games, the difference should be huge! Your 750 Ti really struggles to meet the minimum for Monster Hunter World, whereas the 1080 exceeds the recommended specs. Just make sure your CPU can keep up, as Monster Hunter is also quite demanding on that front.

It'll be an upgrade for sure, but unless you’re snagging that 1080 for a steal, I’d recommend a used RTX 3060 instead. It matches up closely with the 1080 Ti and offers modern features like DLSS that’ll really enhance your gaming.

You're definitely looking at a better gaming experience with a 1080, but don't forget about your overall setup. If you're getting it at a decent price, go for it; just know that it’s quite old too, so setting your sights on something newer could also be a smart move.

Upgrading to a GTX 1080 will definitely be faster than your 750 Ti, but keep in mind that it’s an older card without current driver support. It’s a solid upgrade, but just weigh the pros and cons before jumping in.
