Is Upgrading from a RTX 3060 to a 3080 Worth It?

I'm currently using an RTX 3060 12GB with an Intel i3 12100F CPU, 16GB of RAM, and a 550W power supply. I'm considering upgrading to a used RTX 3080 but I know I need to upgrade my power supply to a 750W. I mainly play games at 1440p. While I might also look to upgrade my motherboard, RAM, and CPU later when I sell my 3060, I want to know if this plan sounds good or if I should consider other options.

If you can find a 6800 XT, I’d seriously consider that instead. It often offers better performance for the same price. I went with a 10GB 3080, and I’ve been regretting not choosing the 6800 XT. It performs better, especially if you're not into ray tracing or DLSS, which can look a bit off in some games. Plus, for your CPU, maybe look into an Intel i5 13600 or 14600 for a better performance boost without entirely rebuilding your setup.

Definitely check out the 6800 XT or even the 7800 XT as alternatives. I think you'll get better value. I grabbed a 10GB 3080, and honestly, I wish I had spent that cash on the 6800 instead. About that CPU upgrade, if you're going to get the 14600, it might be cheaper and easier to just update the firmware and undervolt it without needing a new motherboard setup. Just keep an eye on used prices; the 12GB version of the 3080 can get pricey.
