Hey folks,
I'm in a bit of a pickle and could really use your input. Right now, I'm using an RTX 4080 paired with an i5 13600k and 32GB of DDR4 RAM running at 3600MHz. On my 480Hz 2K monitor, I'm hitting around 300-350 FPS in CS:GO and an average of about 190 FPS in Valorant, which varies quite a bit.
I play games like RDR2, Cyberpunk, Spider-Man, and some upcoming titles. Ideally, I'm aiming for 80+ FPS at 4K and around 400 FPS in CS:GO and Valorant at 2K.
If I decide to upgrade, I'll need a new motherboard, processor, and DDR5 RAM. Do you think the jump to an R9 7900x3d is really worth the investment?

Honestly, I don’t think it’s worth it. You're already getting decent performance with what you have, right? Unless you're struggling with 4K ultra settings, I’d say stick with your current setup.
Going from your current setup to the 7900x3d will definitely yield great results. Just be aware: are you ready to invest over $200 for new DDR5 RAM? You’ll notice benefits even at 4K resolution. Benchmarks show that CPUs like the 7800x3d are similar in performance to the 7900x3d, so if budget is a concern, that could be a viable option too.
I think it's worth it! Considering the games you play, upgrading to the R9 7900x3d can give you a notable boost in performance. Also, keep in mind the resale value of your current components, which could offset costs. The 7900x3d is a solid choice right now, but prices on RAM are a bit high, so factor that in too.
I checked out a comparison video showing that the 9800x3d outperforms the 13600k significantly, and yes, upgrading could really boost your experience. If you could sell your old components as a package deal, that might ease the cost of the upgrade. But regarding your concern about DDR5, it does improve performance, but it might not be a huge jump. Benchmarks suggest only a few FPS difference compared to DDR4.
