Is Upgrading from an RTX 2070 to a 5070 Worth It?

I'm currently running an RTX 2070 paired with a Ryzen 5 5600X and 32GB of RAM. I game on a 3440x1440 ultra-wide monitor and have three screens in total. With RAM prices being what they are, I'm not planning to upgrade my CPU, motherboard, or RAM until the market settles down. I'm considering getting a 5070 for about $580 or a 5070 Ti for around $850. Is the Ti worth the extra $300, or would a standard 5070 suffice for gaming in the foreseeable future?

Upgrading to the 5070 is a solid move—it's a significant performance boost over the 2070. If you're set on the Ti, think of it as a 'lite' version of the 5080; it'll definitely give you better longevity in terms of performance, but isn't strictly necessary if you're on a budget.

Absolutely! Moving from a 2070 to a 5070 is a no-brainer if you can swing it. The performance leap is substantial, and you really won’t be disappointed. If you're skeptical about the price for the Ti, I think a 9070 XT could be a more effective investment instead.

Honestly, the 5070 will be a major upgrade from the 2070. If you're considering future-proofing, the extra VRAM in the 5070 Ti could be helpful down the line, but overall, the 5070 is a great choice for your setup.

Thanks for the advice! Future-proofing is definitely something I'm thinking about.

You might want to check out the 9070 XT instead; it's priced around $600-$650 and has 16GB of VRAM, making it almost as fast as the 5070 Ti. With the high resolution you're gaming at, this could be a great upgrade from your current 2070, and your CPU should handle it well!

If you can, aim for a card with 16GB of VRAM like the 9070 XT or the 5070 Ti; it’s just smart for future gaming needs. You'll be thanking yourself later!
