I'm considering upgrading my son's gaming rig and am weighing the options. Right now, he has an i7-6700K, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 5070 Ti. He plays games like Cyberpunk and gets decent frame rates around 60-70 FPS on a 1440p monitor, so things aren't too crazy performance-wise for him. My current RAM has failed, and I need to buy 32GB anyway, so I found a great bundle at Microcenter with the AM5 7600X, which seems like a solid upgrade. I want this setup to last him for 3 or 4 years. One catch is that he would have to use my single stick of 16GB DDR5/6000 memory. I'm curious about how much performance he would lose with a single channel setup. Is the jump to the 7600X worth it?

This upgrade is definitely a big jump in performance. Just a shame you didn't grab it during that sale last month. They were offering great deals with CPU purchases!
Honestly, keeping a single channel with DDR5 should be alright. Many people run just one stick without major issues these days, especially for gaming.
Absolutely, upgrading from the 6700K to the 7600X is going to give your son a huge performance boost. The 7600X is significantly faster, and it’ll help future-proof his gaming rig quite a bit. If he's running a 5070 Ti, he'll really notice the difference in newer titles.

I know, right? Timing is everything! Thanks for the info!
