Is Upgrading from Intel i9-13900K to Ryzen 7 9850X3D Worth It?

Hey everyone! I'm considering upgrading my current setup from an Intel i9-13900K to an AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D and would love your input. Here are the details: I'm currently using an ASUS Z790-E Gaming WiFi motherboard with an RTX 4090, and I've got 64GB of G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series DDR5 RAM running at 6400MT/s. I'd like to keep the RAM since prices are pretty high right now. Can I still use the XMP profile and make some adjustments on the new board?

Also, I'm looking for recommendations on a motherboard and an All-in-One cooler for the Ryzen 7 9850X3D. My case is a LIAN LI LANCOOL 3 and I already have an ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 420 A-RGB in place. I have three M.2 SSDs installed and intend to keep using them.

I'd prefer an ASUS motherboard since I'm familiar with them and have had a good experience so far. Just a heads up, I primarily game with this machine rather than run multi-threading tasks. Cheers!

Budget matters here. If you’re looking for options, consider the MSI MPG B850 EDGE TI WIFI or the X670E CARBON WIFI if you want something top-tier. For cooling, a 240 or 360mm AIO would suffice, but the 420mm is great if your RAM doesn’t conflict with it.

Appreciate the recommendations! What about my current RAM? Will it work fine on the new board?

Upgrading to the Ryzen 7 9850X3D could be beneficial if you’re noticing performance issues in CPU-heavy games. The 1% low frame rates will generally outperform the i9, especially in games like Counter-Strike. Just make sure that your current setup is compatible with the new CPU, as you’ll need a solid motherboard.

Thanks for the insight! I'm definitely looking for better performance in CPU-heavy games.
