Is Upgrading from Ryzen 5 3600 to 5700X Worth It?

I'm currently using a Ryzen 5 3600 with an RTX 3070, but I feel like the CPU is bottlenecking my performance in 1080p games and some VR titles. I notice that the cheap 5700X3D CPUs are pretty much sold out in my area, but I did find a 5700X for just under 100€ on Aliexpress with free shipping. Do you think that's a good investment for the performance boost? I also spotted a tray version of the 5700X3D for around 240€, which feels a bit pricey to me. I considered upgrading to AM5, but I want to keep my current components for a secondary PC I plan for my partner in the future. What do you think?

Consider your future upgrades. If you think about going AM5 later, it might make sense to wait and save up, but I get that you want a decent performance boost now. If you snag the affordable 5700X, it can still help you enjoy your games without emptying your wallet now!

If you're looking for a quick upgrade, the 5700X for under 100€ sounds like a solid deal! It should give you a noticeable boost without breaking the bank. The 5700X3D is a bit overkill for now, especially if you can't find it at a reasonable price. But keep your eyes peeled for any secondhand options that might pop up, you might get lucky!

Totally agree! For 100€, the 5700X is a great choice. The performance jump should be pretty sweet, and you’ll avoid the headache of waiting for overpriced parts.

The AM5 route can be costly if you aren't selling your old parts. Since you're aiming to keep them for a future build, I'd say the 5700X is probably your best bet for a balance of performance and cost. Plus, you’ll still have your Ryzen 3600 for your partner’s build later!
