Hey folks! A few months back, I was advised to upgrade my CPU, and now I finally have some budget to make a move. I want to know if switching from my current Ryzen 5 3600X to the Ryzen 7 5700X is still a solid upgrade in 2025, considering I'm looking for good value for my money without breaking the bank.
Here's my setup right now:
- GPU: Hellhound RX 6600
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
- RAM: 32 GB DDR4 (2x16 GB, 3200 MHz, Dual Channel)
- Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B450M-GAMING/BR
I'm using my rig mainly for gaming (like Valorant, LoL, Genshin Impact, and others) and some light to moderate video editing and multitasking (often running 2+ games at once).
I'm facing some issues, like stutters in lighter games and freezes when juggling multiple tasks, plus some instability during video renders.
The upgrade I'm considering is swapping my Ryzen 5 3600X for a Ryzen 7 5700X, which offers more cores and threads—great for multitasking and video editing. It's compatible with my B450 motherboard and I can keep my current RAM.
However, I'm from Brazil and hardware prices are pretty steep, so I want to make sure I'm choosing the most cost-effective upgrade at this point without needing to replace my motherboard or RAM.

Your Ryzen 5 3600X should be more than sufficient for the RX 6600 in most situations. If you're gaming at 1080p on lower settings, the boost from a 5000 series like the 5700X could be decent but not massive. Just check your RAM settings are running at 3200 MHz because that's important!
Honestly, if you're experiencing stutters in games like Valorant and LoL, it might not be solely due to CPU limitations. I recommend running some benchmarks on your entire setup to pinpoint the issue. As for the Ryzen 7 5700X, it would definitely give you a noticeable performance boost, but think about how much you’ll need to save up for it before making a decision.
If micro stutters are your main concern, maybe consider the Ryzen 5 5500X 3D instead. It could be a solid option!

Isn't that one exclusive to South America?
