Hey folks! I'm considering an upgrade since I built my PC two years ago, but I've never done a part upgrade before—only full builds. The AM5 platform has been around for a bit now, so I'm thinking it's time for a change. I primarily play AAA games, like Battlefield 6, on a 1440p monitor. My current setup is:
- AMD Ryzen 5 7600X with a 240mm AIO cooler
- 32 GB DDR5 RAM
- 4070 Super GPU
Given the current GPU market, I'm not looking to upgrade my graphics card right now. I'm contemplating switching to a Ryzen 7 9800X3D. However, I'm unsure about how much of an increase in FPS I could expect from this upgrade. Any thoughts?

The 7600X is still a strong performer. You might consider holding out a bit longer or looking for a deal on a 7600X3D instead, as it could offer a more substantial upgrade when it's available.
For AAA games at 1440p, upgrading your CPU probably won't have a huge impact. It's really the GPU that will drive the performance in games like Battlefield 6. So, it might not be the best bang for your buck right now.
If you’re focusing on games that really push CPU performance, you might notice a different experience, especially with games that are CPU-bound like BF6. For most AAA single-player experiences, a different GPU would probably have a bigger influence on FPS than just switching CPUs.
Exactly! A new GPU might give you a more noticeable boost in performance right now.
Honestly, at 1440p with your 4070 Super, shifting to the 9800X3D isn't going to give you a big performance boost. I’d say it might not be worth the investment or the trouble. It might be better to wait for the next generation of CPUs, which might offer more significant enhancements.

Thanks for the advice! I think I'll keep an eye out for that 7600X3D deal.
