Is Upgrading from Ryzen 7 2700X to 5600X and Adding NVMe SSD Worth It?

I'm considering a small upgrade for my PC setup. Currently, I have a Ryzen 7 2700X CPU with an AMD Wraith Prism cooler, Gigabyte B450M motherboard, Gainward GTX 1660 Ti GPU, 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, a 256 GB Patriot SATA SSD, and a 1 TB Seagate HDD. I want to upgrade to a Ryzen 5 5600X for about €107 and I'm also thinking of adding a 500 GB WD Black SN7100 NVMe SSD for €54. I'm wondering if the 5600X is worth the extra cost compared to the Ryzen 5 5500 for €60, considering I don't plan any major upgrades in the future. What does everyone think?

Honestly, the Ryzen 5500 isn't worth it. Both the 5600X and 5700X are strong picks at those prices. Just two extra cores make a little difference, especially in productivity. On the SSD, I would suggest spending a bit more for a 1TB drive; €54 for just 500GB isn't the best deal.

What do you primarily use your PC for?

I’d recommend going for the 5600X or even the 5700X if you're into some productivity tasks too. The Ryzen 5500 is comparable to the 3600, which isn’t a great upgrade. As for the SSD, that's definitely a solid upgrade. Your HDD is slow, so moving to an NVMe will speed things up quite a bit. If you’re gaming, you might want to consider upgrading your GPU next as well.
