I'm currently using a Ryzen 7700 with a 5070ti, and I primarily play games at 1080p. I'm considering upgrading to the 7800X3D since I found it at a good price. Given my setup and resolution, would this upgrade be worthwhile?

If you're sticking to 1080p, the 7800X3D will give you better performance, but the difference might not be drastic. However, if you plan to move to 1440p eventually, that’s where the 7800X3D starts to shine more, even though it’s still not a huge leap at 1080p.

In general, yes, the upgrade makes sense, but at 1080p specifically, you might not see enough of a difference to justify the cost right now. If you're thinking about 1440p in the future, it could be worth it then!

Got it! So if I continue playing at 1080p for a while longer, maybe I should hold off on the upgrade?

Honestly, I don't think it's worth the upgrade. Your Ryzen 7700 and 5070ti combo should handle 1080p gaming just fine. An 8% performance boost isn't really significant, so maybe focus that money on a new monitor instead!

Thanks! I think I'll definitely prioritize a new monitor in the next couple of months.
