Is Upgrading My CPU and Motherboard Worth It for Better Gaming Performance?

I'm currently using a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti paired with an Intel i5-11400F, and I'm getting between 90 to 110 fps in Arc Raiders at 1080p or 1440p on low to medium settings. However, my 165Hz monitor makes me feel like I'm not fully utilizing my graphics card's potential, especially in these newer CPU-intensive games. I'm considering upgrading to an AMD B550 motherboard and a more powerful CPU like the 5700 or 5800X3D as a budget option, but I'm also aware that switching to AM5 might be too pricey. Is this upgrade a good move?

You should definitely check your resource usage while gaming. What percentage is the GPU using? That can really help you pinpoint the bottleneck.

My son has an i5-11400 and 3060 Ti at 1440p and 165Hz, and we haven’t run into any problems with the GPU not performing at its best. If you're worried it's a CPU issue, maybe consider upgrading to an i7-11700K or 11900K instead of going through a whole new platform.

I don’t think going with AMD is the best option right now because the AM4 X3D chips are ridiculously overpriced. You might be better off sticking with something like an Intel 12600K or 13400 on a DDR4 B760 board. That way, you can upgrade your RAM too and still spend less than just getting the 5800X3D.
